What Is Plaster?
In case you did not know, plaster is a very popular building material and it has been for many many years.
It is made of gypsum, lime, or cement. Plaster is used for decorative and protective purposes on walls and ceilings.
Our Plastering Process
Never cutting corners is what has set us apart and has made us the preferred plasterer in Southern California. We use the best methods and the best materials when it comes to installing or repairing plaster.
To begin, we secure the lath on the framing. Lath gives the plaster something to hold on to. Therefore, the proper installation of lath is just as important, if not more than the plastering.
Next is to mix the plaster to a perfect consistency. Plaster usually comes in powder and water needs to be mixed in. While this step sounds easy, it takes true experience to create a perfect consistency. Our professionals add up to 3 coats of plaster for a perfect finish.
Due to all the layers, we apply, plaster ends up being a bit thicker than your average drywall.
Benefits of Plaster
Due to plaster being thicker than drywall, you will benefit from:
- Increased air barrier
- Better sound barrier
- Stronger walls
- Higher fire resistance
